We’re a contemporary interior design studio based in Manchester, UK. Founded by Kerry Armstrong & Tom Frankland, the mission of Decorelm is simple: To inspire others to embrace natural beauty, individuality and meaning within their homes.

If our homes are anything, they are personal, sentimental and act as the foundations of our lives. That’s why we believe that interior design should dive into greater meaning when designing someone’s home - beyond simply looking good.

A wintery morning in Central Park, the streets were icey and the trees were white. But what does this have to do with interior design?

It All Started In New York…

Kerry and Tom are two avid travellers who love exploring the world, discovering new cultures and embracing varying forms of interior design. They often collect items for their home on their travels which inspired future conversations and memories. On one of their travels, they found themselves in the bustling streets of New York City and were inspired by the beautiful, unique designs they encountered.

They discussed how current interior design services were either too rushed - falling for short term trends, or too expensive and pretentious. They pondered how they could create an experience that would inspire others to dive deeper into their values and create a space that truly represented their unique story. One morning, they decided to take a stroll through Central Park and enjoy a much-needed coffee…

The Backstory

MEANINGFUL INTERIOR DESIGN

As they walked, they talked about all things design, memories, and future ideas. As they sat on a bench under a famous American Elm Tree to take a sip of their coffee, that’s when it all clicked. They knew that by using their design skills, they could achieve their mission to inspire others to embrace individuality and collaborate with clients to tap into their core values and create exquisite living spaces.

The American Elm Tree above them symbolised the concepts of living slow and embracing originality in a world of fast change and mass production. Kerry and Tom were inspired to create a business where beauty could co-exist and everyone could express their own story…

Finding the idea

With the American Elm tree acting as their symbol for the new idea, they used this to devise the name for the company - Decor Elm.

We hope that you can join us on your journey to transforming your home into a place that provides peace, sparks conversation and creates new memories for the years to come.

Serene, beautiful and timeless design. Kerry graduated from the British College of Interior Design and has since designed the homes of many delighted clients, picking up multiple awards along the way.

Outside of design, Kerry loves nothing more than going into nature or exploring new places for inspiration.
